I love Kozen and Goku, probably because Kozen has less of aversion to goku hugging him then Sanzo has, that and i kinda think That Kozen probably way better of a Father figgure then Sanzo is.
for the most part i dont see Sanzo as a dad for goku, But not for one second do i think that way of Kozen
Admittedly Sanzo is very fucked up and its probably a good thing he is not a real dad figure. Still i find Kozen’s devotion to Goku, a bit more sweeter then i find Sanzo’s….

there is a line in Gaiden where Goku looks at konzen and say ‘you know i use to think that you’d be really pretty if you smiled, but a smile doesn’t really suite you’ and that was it, pretty much from that point on i cried like a baby

most times i find that prequels take my enjoyment away from the story proper not here though, Saiyuki Gaiden breaks my heart every time i read it, the child abuse, the fact they reached their goal but not the way they wanted.
